Some people consider that if they prevent tags in their blogs from by indexing by Google/Yahoo(using pugins like All in One Seo or Robots.txt) it could help them in SEO. I already heard several times that it is believed that posts under tags can be considered by search engines to be duplicate content and whole blog can be downranked SERP wise. That is absolute nonsense! You should always have your tags available for indexing, believe me, Google knows what is tag and what is blog. Some tags of my blogs are ranked very good in search engines without any efforts from my side. So just keep these tags related to posts and everything would be fine.

Never ever waste you time on filling “keywords” meta tag on you blog or seo site. Actually for a long time search engine don’t take it into account but many people still use it as in good old days. The point why I recommend you to stop using it is way more important then waste of time. By making this metateg and filling it with proper keywords that you researched before and which has some value actually, you simply give away your work for free. Just imagine, you you gave good ranking for some blog in some niche it could be found by your competitor and he will check your metatag for sure and if you blogs is successful he can use keywords from your metatag to fill posts on his own blog! So it is not only useless it is harmful to put all nice keywords in this metatag

For all those people who need to include some PHP code in their static html pages and don’t know how to do it better I have some great advise. I wanted to include short PHP code which is required by Link Organizer (great link exchange script) and I was already thinking about converting my static sites into dynamic ones, but the solution appeared to be much more easier. The only thing you need to do to make Apache execute php commands in html and to add the following string: AddType application/x-httpd-php .html in your .htaccess file ( you can create one with only this string). I hope this small tip was useful for you! Enjoy!

Recently I faced the need to create several small sites with quite simple structure and layout. However being too lazy to make them by hand (well time= money anyway) I decided to check several CM system and find the simplest and most convenient one. I checked like 10 of them and results were not satisfying. Either it was complex solution not really suitable for simple solutions or it was so complicated that I would take more time to understand how it is works then to build these site. Also I faced the fact that lot of CMSs lack good free templates which I like so much using Wordpress. Finally I decided that it is worth to check if where are any plugins/mods for Wordpress which I can use instead of completely new CMS. Wordpress is actually already a CMS but it has some blogging features that we don’t need if we want to use it for non blogs – first of all it is posting and all the stuff related to comments, users registration etc. The advantages of WP as are tons of free themes, widget flexibility and some nice SEO plug-ins. So what do we need to make nice simple CMS out of Worpress:

1 Install all your favorite plugins, like All in One Seo, stats, backup etc. Also I strongly recommend you to install Flexi Pages plugin. Since you will operate not posts, but pages and sub pages
2 Download and install this very simple script – it temporally removes posting feature and makes options simplier
3. Install your favorite themes that supports pages in the way you need.

You are done and ready to go. You can create pages, sub pages order them as you wish , use or not use widgets and easily edit theme. If you need anything else just check and install more plug-ins, I bet you can find everything you need.

Hello all AWMs, just recently I have understood that quite a lots of people don’t habe any idea about use of rel=”nofollow” for external and some internal links on their blogs and other sites that are relying on SE traffic. Actually it is important to use this as much as you can in case you care about Google PR because of two things. First is that every link from you site drains PR from this page and second reason is that the number of external link should be limited on every page, otherwise you can get penalty from Google for being a link dump, that’s why the higher is the number of outgoing links with “nofollow” – the higher can be the number of niormal links for link exchange purposes etc. And the last thing that people forget – put nofollow on every link to your sponsors since you have lots of them on each page I guess
